Surfing Legend Extinguished Early

Posted in: Featured, News Review

Today reports came in about the early demise of surfing legend Andy Irons.

Andy, who took out the world surfing titles in 2002,2003 and 2004 was forced to pull out of the upcoming surfing tour event held in Puerto Rico.

He was immortalised in the 2004 documentary-style movie “Blue Horizon” that paralleled his journey on the WCT surfing tour.

Irons’ family discovered that Andy had passed away yesterday (Tuesday 2nd November) in Dallas, Texas after he had to cancel boarding his connecting flight to his home in Kauai.

Early reports suggest that Andy died from dengue fever.

Dengue Fever which is a disease often transmitted via mosquitoes has so far claimed 2,124 lives during this year alone, with a massive 1,508,173 confirmed cases world wide.

Andy Iron’s passing has not only heavily affected the surfing community, but also the millions of kids that looked up to Andy as a rolemodel.
